For some reason, we got into a discussion at the dinner table about the verb "to eat" and its various permutations.
"I eat," I dictated. "I am eating. I ate. I have eaten. I had eaten."
I was finished (having, I now realize, forgotten the future tenses). But there was one more. Suddenly, from Ella:
"I am being eaten."
