Madison is relishing, positively reveling in, a workbook that helps kids write novels, called the Young Novelist's Workbook, from the "National Novel Writing Month" folks who encourage us all to write a novel during the month of November.
There are a lot of fill-in-the-blank exercises about characters and plot, as well as theory about what makes for a good novel. The e-book (PDF file) is free, a little over 100 pages. I printed out the first dozen pages for Madison to use during the "15 Minutes of Writing" we now do every day, and she loved it so much she did it for half an hour and asked me to print out another dozen pages. The PDF file is here.
