June 6 Birthday of the Day: Nathan Hale

Nathan Hale was born June 6, 1755 in Coventry, Connecticut. He attended Yale at the age of 14. Hale was a colonel in the American Revolution, and served as a spy for the Americans. He was captured on the same day as the Great New York Fire of 1776. As his Wikipedia entry says:

Hale was allowed to give a speech from the gallows, part of which, according to tradition, included the words "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."

He was only 21 years old.
