Forecast

Today:

Snow.


Tomorrow:
Snow and freezing rain.

Monday:
Several inches of snow. And wind.

Tuesday:
Lake-effect snow.

Wednesday:
Cold with snow developing (developing?!).

Thursday:
Snow showers.

Welcome to Rochester! I guess it's December.

We are ready with the neat snow ruler that Tom and Susan gave us for our housewarming present last year. Only up here in the Great White North can a housewarming present be a snow ruler.



Here is a photo of our cool new handmade weather measuring instruments:

The weathervane works particularly well; that's the little thing on the right that we made with straws and some oak tag; unfortunately the arrow blends in with the background so it's hard to see in the photo. We watched it whip around yesterday as a windy period came in, then it settled down to be consistently from the northwest or west. It's pointing west-northwest in the photo. Ella has a real knack for directions; she was always able to know which direction it was pointing. They found it interesting that the arrow points *into* the wind rather than away from it.
